A tradition of innovation
We’ve been taking great pride in our manufacturing processes for over 60 years.
More than six decades have passed since Heinrich Reich laid the foundations of our company in his home town of Zettlitz. Ideally combining tradition and innovation, we have continued his tradition to create Weberei Reich in its present form – a high-quality manufacture of flat-woven materials for homes and interiors.
Company founded by Heinrich Reich in Zettlitz. As a commission weaver, he produced furnishing fabrics, clothing textiles and scharfes. Initially with just one loom, soon followed by a second and the assistance of his sons Ewald and Karl-Hermann.
Non-commission furnishing fabrics are produced for the first time, thereby helping to Exponat the customer base to cover all over Germany and Austria.
1983 - 1984
Together with his wife Ingeborg, Ewald Reich runs the company as a sole grader with six dobby looms. The construction of a new production building in Gefrees doubles the amount of available machinery; Jacquard technology is used for the first time. Further investment is soon made in the machinery, further increasing the company´s efficiency.
Completion of a two-storey Extension with a floor space of 1,100 square metres. All production processes (spooling, warping, weaving, quality assurance, finished good inspection), the yarn, raw materials and finished goods storage area, the offices and development facilities are now integrated over a total area of 2,700 square metres.
1995 - 1998
The company enters its third generation: after completing her training, Claudia joins the management in 1995, followed by Andreas in 1998.
2000 - 2010
The optimisation process continues; a new electronic warping machine is acquired. The loom hall is upgraded; all production now takes place on electronic Jacquard looms.
2011 - 2016
Upgrades to the energy performance of our buildings (thermal insulation of roof and windows, photovoltaics, new heating system) demonstrate our desire to be a sustainable company.
We are constantly upgrading our machinery to optimize efficiency and quality and ensure we are always at the cutting edge of technology.
